Many of the anti-virus companies have conceded that virus authors are no longer interested in "creating global epidemics" for personal entertainment, but rather they choose to remain undetected for personal profit (anti-virus software is losing the battle!).* At Secure Technologies, we realize that this paradigm shift is dangerous and detrimental to those companies that become targets of these new breed of “entrepreneurs.”
With nearly 250,000 new "zombie" PC's identified each day, it has become a major concern among computer professionals.* Also, the US-CERT has seen a dramatic rise in documented vulnerabilities; 2,372 in the year 2004 and 6600 in the year 2006. This is almost a 3-fold change in 2 years. The US-CERT reports 19 new vulnerabilities per day (US-CERT statistics).*

These statistics are not meant to alarm, but educate. We believe that information security is an ongoing struggle that requires vigilance, perseverance and knowledge. Due to the constant evolution of electronic systems and software, it has become necessary to continually monitor and re-evaluate routers, firewalls, operating systems, databases and software applications for vulnerabilities. Although the threats have increased, significant progress has been made in the tools & techniques necessary to combat these threats.
